Sameer Shaikh has been appointed General Manager, Procurement and Supply Chain at Travel Food Services Limited (TFS). His journey highlights that procurement leadership is more than vendor negotiations. It requires category expertise, inventory optimization, and supply chain efficiency that drives measurable business performance.
He began at Reliance Retail (2007), building strong foundations in merchandising, demand planning, and product flow. He was also part of the Hamleys India inception and launch team, supporting the entry of the iconic global toy brand into the Indian retail market.
At Tata-Tesco, he managed merchandise planning across FMCG, grocery, staples, general merchandise, and consumer durables, earning recognition for category excellence, process innovation, and supply chain improvement.
In 2015, he joined bigbasket, spending a decade leading buying and merchandising across Mumbai for high-volume categories including fresh, dairy, gourmet, FMCG, and both B2B and B2C formats. His teams were awarded for inventory and replenishment excellence, specialty store growth, and express delivery performance, and he was named among the Top 50
Most Influential E-commerce Professionals (2020).
He also led value stream mapping initiatives with partners like HUL, P&G, and Nestlé, focused on eliminating waste and strengthening end-to-end supply chain execution. Supported by certifications in design thinking, strategic innovation, and consumer behavior, his work blends operational delivery with process optimization.
Now at Travel Food Services, he drives end-to-end procurement strategy, vendor ecosystem development, cost efficiency, and supply chain optimization to support expansion in travel retail and food services, where availability, quality, margins, and execution at scale are critical.
With close to two decades across Reliance, Tata-Tesco, and Bigbasket, Sameer’s differentiator is retail-first procurement leadership, combining buying, planning, replenishment, vendor management, and P&L impact across fresh and packaged categories.
